2. Does Harpoon support local charities with donations?
Yes. Our focus has always been on both brewing great beer and sharing the joy of drinking that beer with our friends and neighbors. It is important to us that we help take care of our community whenever we can. Please visit the Harpoon Helps page for more information and to request a donation or sign up for a mission with us.
3. Can I buy kegs at either of your Breweries?
State law allows us to sell kegs in Vermont, but we cannot do so in Boston. Please contact the Brewery in advance if you are looking for a specific style! We don’t always have every product in stock.
4. Will Harpoon sponsor my house party?
No. I’m pretty sure that’s illegal and frankly, we’re still a little hurt that we weren’t invited.
5. Will Harpoon sponsor my fun run/bike race/rugby team?
Now we’re talking! We get asked to sponsor a lot of events, and we love helping out but unfortunately can’t do them all. We ask that you please send us all of the relevant info regarding your event with your inquiry – if we have that information up front it will help us help you.
6. What is the shelf-life for a bottle of Harpoon beer?
We take great pride in the quality of our beers, and as a result put tremendous care into ensuring that our beer stays as fresh as possible on its trip from the Brewery to your fridge. Our date stamps are clearly legible on both our cases and bottle. This way, you can be sure that you’re drinking the freshest beer possible from Harpoon!
Most Harpoon bottled beers will have a “Best By” date ink-jetted on the bottle. It will be printed in bright yellow ink so that it’s easy for you to read. The Best By date will be approximately 120 days after the beer is bottled for IPA and 150 days for other products.
Some Leviathan beers are well-suited to aging. These beers will have the year stamped on the side, as well as on the neck label. That way you can save some for years and enjoy them at various stages of their development.
7. Does Harpoon make any gluten-free products?
Yes! Harpoon Ciders are naturally gluten-free. Harpoon Cider’s gluten content has been independently measured at less than 20 parts per million, meeting the FDA's proposed threshold for gluten-free.
We also are developing a gluten-free Pale Ale. It is a pilot batch and will be on tap for a limited time at the Boston brewery only. While there are no existing FDA regulations surrounding gluten-free claims, this beer meets the proposed FDA regulations (and the existing European standards) for gluten-free products as testing using the best method we know of - the Competitive R5 ELISA method. We have made available detailed information regarding the testing and results.
8. How many calories/carbs are there in a 12 oz bottle of Harpoon IPA?
Calories: 165-175
Carbs: 14.5g - 16.5g
Variability is due to seasonal/crop year variability in malted barley characteristics.
9. Wait – I have more questions!
No problem! Grab a Harpoon (beer), and send us an email at info@harpoonbrewery.com. We should be able to get you an answer within a couple of days, but in the meantime, feel free to look around our site, enjoy the beer, and maybe you’ll find an answer before we do. Or, if you happen to see one of us out and about in your local bar, stop and ask!
