Mo' Speak

A couple of years back a friend of mine, who was living in New Zealand, shared with me the concept of Movember. At the time she had a number of friends participating and was doing all she could to help support them down under the down under. I thought the idea was great, but never fully committed myself to participate. Then I started working at Harpoon…
Harpoon Brewery has held its own annual mustache competition for 5 years running. What started with a small group of guys trying to turn the work week into something a little less monotonous slowly evolved into a companywide competition to grow the best mo’. As the growth caught on we went from 5 guys the first year to 24 participants in 2011.
After seeing how successful the competition has been at Harpoon I decided it was time to get everyone on board with Movember and sign us up as a team, Harpoon’s Private Stache. I mean who wouldn’t want to combine beer, mustaches and charity, right?
The response has been huge with over 50 participants companywide and an outpouring of support from our friends and family. Even our outer market reps have signed on, from Texas to Florida, up and down the eastern seaboard and all over New England. For me, it has been awesome to see this event take off and build its own momentum.
We are also excited to share this whole hairy mess with our Friends of Harpoon and everyone else interested in watching our transformation over the course of the month. We will keep you posted via our Facebook page, so check in regularly to keep an eye on our mo’ growth and all the other events that Harpoon Helps has going on throughout the holiday season.
If you’d like to donate to team Harpoon’s Private Stache head over to our Movember website and thank you in advance.
Cheers,
Jesse Brenneman and team Harpoon’s Private Stache
