Question of the Month for June 2006: Is the same amount of priming sugar added to a batch of beer that is scheduled for bottling vs. kegging in order to achieve the best carbonation results.? - Mike (Lynnfield, MA)
THE ANSWER FROM THE BREWER: Al Marzi, Harpoon VP of Brewing: "At Harpoon we do not add priming sugar to create the carbonation in the beer. While there is some carbonation naturally created during the fermentation process, we add Co2 into the Bright Beer tanks prior to packaging in either bottles or kegs. We do this so that we can make sure we consistently get the exact amount of Co2 that is required for each style of beer we brew. "
