Harpoon releases the 3rd beer from their Leviathan Series Boston, MA (December 2008) – This December, the Harpoon Brewery will release the third beer in their Harpoon Leviathan Series, a Baltic Porter. This is the latest offering from Harpoon’s Leviathan Series, the brewery’s limited edition line of big beers. Harpoon debuted the series in June with a wheat wine-style ale called Triticus, following it up in September with an Imperial IPA.Leviathan Baltic Porter is a dark, strong beer of considerable complexity. Brewed with a highly alcohol-tolerant strain of lager yeast, it has a smooth, full flavor with dark fruit and licorice notes in the aroma. De-husked roasted malt lends a dark chocolate character without being sharp or harsh. Raw sugar and dark crystal malt give some raisin and molasses notes while East Kent Goldings hops make for a long, earthy finish. Harpoon’s Leviathan Baltic Porter can be paired with your favorite wintertime foods such as steak, stew, aged cheeses, and chocolate desserts. Or enjoy it on its own from a snifter or red wine glass. Harpoon Leviathan Baltic Porter Statistics: ABV: 9.5% IBU: 38 OG: 23.5 Harpoon Leviathan beers are brewed in 120-barrel batches.
