First and foremost, every country in the world has a 4th Of July, but this is our Independence Day, and will be referred to as such. With the greatest American holiday upon us, your backyard better be in tip-top shape for this weekend’s festivities. Here’s a little checklist we use at the brewery when a big drinking holiday is on the docket:
A party without beer is like… we honestly don’t even have a comparison because it’s that unfathomable. Variety is key here, people. You’re going to have friends over with different taste buds and they should all be treated like the unique snowflakes they are. Here’s how you cooler should look:
IPA – This IPA hasn’t been around for 23 years because it’s O.K. It deserves prime placement and back-up.
Sweet Spot – When your bestie’s like “Can you believe Harpoon stopped making Harpoon Summer Beer?! The nerve!” hand them one of these bad boys and say, “you’re welcome.”
Take 5 – For your friend that wants the deliciousness of an IPA, but with an ABV that says “You can enjoy me all day long, friend. We’re in this together.”
Camp Wannamango – Pure summer in a can/bottle. Even the “I don’t like fruit beer” people like it.
Craft Cider and/or Hibiscus Cider – Crisp, refreshing, naturally gluten free. Cider is a no-brainer this weekend.
Water – Don’t be a savage. Water is your BFF.
Music is a crucial part of any party, let alone your Independence Day Party. Do we want to celebrate the liberation of our colonies with the “1812 Overture” or something a little more upbeat for your pool party? Well, you’re in luck because we’ve got you covered. We're even giving you the chance to win a custom Bluetooth speaker from our friends at Tivoli Audio, just use the hashtag #lovebeerlovelife to enter (winners drawn every week)! Here are 6 Backyard Party Playlist brought to you by The Wild Honey Pie:
You could have a cooler full of cold Harpoon beers and the most perfectly curated playlist for your guests, but the food is the unsung hero of every party. All of the best parts of America and summer can be found searing on a grill and that’s what makes food so easy for this party. Burgers and hotdogs, because they’re classics, easy to make, and people can customize however they want. And don’t forget veggies! C’mon, you’re the host. Make sure everybody is happy.
Whether it’s tiki torches, plastering American flags throughout the lawn or just straight up fireworks (ahem – sparklers are a must), here’s how to décor appropriately:
Start with the essentials – nothing says Independence Day like American flags. Small ones, big ones, just make sure you have one.
Keep it practical – Red, white and blue can come in all forms. Don’t want to go all out on decorations? Spice up the menu and make some ‘merica treats to add color to the party. Beer can be a decoration too! (Ahem…Harpoon IPA, Harpoon Craft Cider, and UFO White – red, white and blue in the cooler!)
Wearables – people love wearing the theme of the party. Beads, glow sticks, America hats - it truly doesn’t matter what it is as long as they can take a selfie in it.
It’s Independence Day, you’re outside, it’s hot, and you’re looking for something to help cool you down. While that cold beer in your hand is obviously a good option, we’ve got something else we think will really hit the spot. A Camp Wannamango Popsicle. Because honestly, there really isn’t anything better than an adult Popsicle. So go pick up a 6-pack, grab a few mangos, and get ready to blow your friends’ minds…
1. Mix all ingredients together in a pitcher or measuring cup with a spout, stir until sugar has dissolved. Add in the cubed mango.
2. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 6 hours.
3. Run molds under hot water until the popsicles release.
4. Enjoy with friends, and a cold Camp Wannamango in hand!
