Our journey into hop land was dubbed "Tom and Ken's Hoppy Adventure." An opportunity came along to help develop a new IPA for the Harpoon line-up. Fellow brewer Tom Knight and I both volunteered simultaneously. We decided to collaborate on the project, testing many different hops until we found the right combination. We were thrilled with how the beer turned out, even though the "Tom and Ken" would not be in the beer's official name. The very first time I went to a bar (BBC - Walpole) to share a pint with my friend, I asked the bartender about the new Harpoon beer she had. She said it was awesome, but that they remembered in being called something else when she tried it early on at the brewery. I told her it was called "Tom and Ken's Hoppy Adventure" and that I was Ken. She immediately took the tap handle off and added the "missing" part of the name.
