Harpoon Helps Women’s Equality

August 10, 2021

August 26th is the 101st anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment which prohibits the states and federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States based on sex. Since that historic day, gender equality has certainly progressed, but we still have a long way to go.

According to the most recent U.S. Census data from 2018, U.S. women of all races earned, on average, just 82 cents for every $1 earned by men of all races. To help make up for that, (at least for one day), we’ll be donating $1.18 cents for every pint sold at both of our breweries in Boston, MA and Windsor, VT to two fantastic organizations working to provide equal opportunities for women and girls.

In Boston, we’ll be donating to the Women’s Foundation of Boston, who creates, funds and accelerates programs that equip Boston women and girls to be financially independent, successful and valued leaders in their communities. This all volunteer organization has done a lot since their founding in 2017! Learn more about the programs they support here.

In Windsor, we’ll be donating to Vermont Works For Women, who helps women and girls recognize their potential and explore, pursue and excel in work that leads to economic independence. Learn more about their vision and programs here.

New this year at Outdoors @ Harpoon, we’re hosting a Sip and Shop event with Boston Women’s Market! Join us on August 26th from 5pm-8pm to shop and support women-founded businesses and artists with a cold beer in hand! Click here to learn more. We also will be offering a specialty 4-pack at the Harpoon Beer Hall voted on by the female identifying employee owners of Harpoon of which we will be donating $1 for every 4-pack sold!
